Puerto Bahia, is the first, most modern and interconnected public seaport for import and export of oil and essential products of the oil industry. Its multipurpose approach includes the possibility of bulk cargoes, hydrocarbons, general commercial cargo containers and rolling cargo. Note that this port structure, is located in Isla Baru strategic area close to the industrial and commercial center of the city of Cartagena. It has easy access to several national highways and river access to the Magdalena River, the main tributary of Colombia, as well as connection to the hinterland through the Canal del Dique, which is adjacent to the port facilities. The competitive advantages of Puerto Bahia is why various international marketers of crude oil, have expressed interest in renting storage capacity at this terminal. The port will have an initial storage capacity for liquid of 3.3 million barrels, a facility for handling general cargo for transshipment (Ro-Ro), dry cargo and bulk cargo in general. The port is designed optimally to meet current demand, but also has enough space available for future expansion.
